I went to the pears due to their basic forms. Here I am using a black colored pencil and a white colored pencil on the brown paper. I started with the drawing below - of the orchids and the mirror - but wow - it got way too complicated. I started with pencil and then went to conte crayon. Not a pretty picture.
I like the complexity of the space and the gestures of the plant. Was listening to Sean Carroll physics lecture on symmetries. I know enough math to mostly understand some of what he was saying.
This is a small painting 12"x10". Done pretty quickly in two shifts - about 3 1/2 hours total. I had a difficult time squeezing all that energy into the small canvas, but I think it helps with the idea of explosive growth.
