Record attendance and a fun evening. Lots of visitors and people to catch up with now that I have a little more time -- no longer teaching at the high school. :)
One of the themes I am playing with in the flower paintings - and in most of my work is how we see what we want in a tangle of background - visual noise. How all things are defined by what they intersect and contrast to. the space is shallow and somewhat ambiguous but we find what we are looking for none the less.
I began the painting with a photo of flowers in my yard. My yard is a big inspiration to me. I am looking for a setting of flowers that the viewer has to work a little bit for. I am interested in a shallow space and a sense of movement.
